Jan-Koen Sluijs provides legal advice and litigation services to various enterprises in the field of competition, market regulation and state aid. Moreover he specializes in European internal market regulations (including the free movement of goods and services). In his practice Jan-Koen frequently focuses on the healthcare sector. Experience

After completing military service Jan-Koen Sluijs started his academic legal career in 1996. For six years he was a researcher of European law at the T.M.C. Asser Institute in The Hague. In addition to his PhD research work he provided advice to ministries and local and regional authorities regarding the application of European law (internal market and competition). In 2003 he became a senior lawyer with the legal affairs department of the Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit (Netherlands Competition Authority). His daily activities included preparing decisions in respect of objections and making official recommendations on sanctions to the Authority’s Board of Directors. In 2004 he obtained a PhD in competition law and European free movement law. On 5 January 2007 he was sworn in as a lawyer in The Hague. He has been a partner with Legaltree since 2010.
